This list features all movies directed by James Cameron, the Canadian filmmaker has scored many big budget successes which combined have gross over $7 billion.
The first hugely successful film directed by James Cameron was 1984's The Terminator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Cameron would link up with Schwarzenegger again on two other occasions. Firstly, Terminator 2: Judgement Day proved to be more successful than the first instalment and then again in 1994 with True Lies, which also featured Jamie Lee Curtis and Bill Paxton, in which James Cameron has a long association with, having appeared in five of the 10 films listed here.
In 1997, James Cameron released the most expensive film ever made, at that time, in Titanic. Titanic went on to be nominated for 14 Academy Awards, winning 11 including awards for Best Picture and Best Director. It also catapulted Leonardo DiCaprio into world superstardom, as the film grossed an incredible $2 billion at the box office. Somewhat amazingly, Cameron would direct another film that would beat this total, Avatar (2009) is the highest grossing film of all time.
Two documentaries are also on this shortlist, Aliens of the Deep and Ghosts of the Abyss, these incorporate James Cameron's love of deep sea diving, he is the first person to reach the bottom of the Mariana Trench solo, only the third person ever to achieve this feet. From the bottom of the sea to outer Space, which is your favourite James Cameron movie?
