Film Director Danny Boyle was born in Manchester, England in 1956. He made his big screen debut with the 1994 black comedy Shallow Grave, which went on to win the BAFTA award for best British film, his career has gone on from strength to strength. Boyle directed the 2008 smash hit Slumdog Millionaire which was nominated for 10 Academy awards winning eight including an Oscar for best director completing a hat-trick of major awards for direction with the Golden Globe and BAFTA prize already secured.
Danny Boyle is also famous for his art direction for the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympic Games, the ceremony was hugely successful and he was offered a Knighthood from the Queen in the new years honours list, which he declined.
